Is Premier Nathan Rees showing foresight in handing Newcastle MP and Minister for the Hunter and Tourism Jodi McKay.

 

First, Ms McKay may be the only NSW Labor member left standing on election night in 2011 so is being given exposure to as many portfolios as possible.

 

A second perspective is that Deputy Premier Carmel Tebutt appears not interested in being leader (perhaps wisely at this point), Ms McKay is being groomed as a future NSW Labor Opposition leader.

 

I’m leaning towards the second scenario.
