THE Jets fracas (“Why I swore at fans” Herald 20/1) demonstrates not passion but the current unsatisfactory behavior of both club management and supporters.

 

So the Jet came last – so what? It’s moments like this that reveal the true character of a people, being united in overcoming adversity, working together for a common purpose with dignity, integrity and respect, and learning from past errors to rebuild.

 

The club needs its supporters as much as the supporters need the club. In this new and reinvigorated era of “Obama enlightenment” a little diplomacy won’t hurt.

 

The reality is the Jets will come last again in the future, and it is likely they will win the A-League championship again. Let’s savour moments like last season’s championship victory, but let’s not turn against each other in times such as these.

 

United we stand, divided we fall.
